White to blood baby Boks

White to blood baby Boks

The three baby Boks on tour with the senior side could all feature in the match 22 against Wallabies.

It is doubtful any one of the three (Chiliboy Ralepelle, JP Pietersen and Pierre Spies) will start the test. It is more probable that they will be included among the reserves for the Boks’ opening Vodacom Tri Nations test.

News from the Bok camp is that Bryan Habana trained and will be considered for selection. Habana left the field against France with a rib injury and initially was expected to miss six weeks. He was also taken on tour with the expectation of playing against New Zealand. The recovery has been exceptional and Habana’s availability means Akona Ndungane is sure to miss out a first test.

Solly Tyibilika will start as an openside flanker, according to convener of selectors Peter Jooste, and the Bok team to play Australia will differ in midfield, on the wing and at flank to the one that lost to France.

De Wet Barry will be replaced by Wynand Olivier, Jaque Fourie will start at No 13 in place of Olivier, Breyton Paulse comes back for Brent Russell and Tyibilika takes over from Joe van Niekerk, with the latter reverting to No 8.

Probable Bok team: Montgomery, Paulse, Fourie, Olivier, Habana, Van der Westhuyzen, Du Preez, Van Niekerk, Smith, Tyibilika, Matfield, Rossouw, Andrews, Smit and Du Randt.

    Bod,
yeah must admit JF does 2 simple things very well, which make him far more valuable than anyone else.
    1. he runs staright and hence straigtens the line.
    2. he can actually tackle.

very rare qualities in SA backline play.

    Bok,
Agree JdV and JF are a worldclass combo, but JdV is injured. WO is not a bad replacement at all.

Nee wat manne – Stefan Basson??????? Wer’e scraping the barrel here.

keo the word here is that Nick Mallet has withdrawn from the list of candidates for the RFU job; apparently he was the frontrunner ahead of Woodward; can you get the lowdown?

  • 110.big g: Reply to this comment

i think even 14 ouens is better than having jaco on the field…

    The headline should read

‘Jake to spill Baby Boks blood’.

At this stage it seems too premature to play youngsters too soon. The cost will set these players back too much.

I’m talking about Berrick Barnes from the Reds. Wonderful young talent.

We are going to get our asses kicked and thats the bottom line. Get rid of JvdW, Paulse is going to get hammered and Eddie Andrews is going to be scrummed into the dirt again. However, I am still a Bok supporter and we can only hope they all get subbed super quick in the game and we can then maybe salvage some Bok pride.

    SA Rugby Again

Athrob Pietersen story not sorted out yet!!. Naas can’t join until sorted out.
Hoskins overseas at world cup but no manager sent on tour with guys.Typical SA administration priorities!!

Good luck guys!! I’m already cringing! Hopefully we play ok because we really have backs to the wall.

    niknak

McIsaac is out to be replaced by Jeremy Paul and Sean Hardman on the bench.

Rodney Blake will in all likelyhood return along with Gitteau.

Scott Fava will in all likelyhood be included in the backrow to make it more copmpetitive.

  • 122.Drunkmonkey: Reply to this comment

    flyhalf should be HOUGIE (ThepointMachine)

  • 123.Hmmm: Reply to this comment

You guys giving Pieterson too much credit…..

Look at the U21 WC semi and final….those games got too big for him…….and he looked less than orinary…..and he has no pace either…….

Mark this…….he is going to fold if intorduced into a test…….

    And I doubt Jake will….

    Hougie(Diepuntemasjien)

Al wat jy sien is die punte-masjien!

  • 125.fiftybucks: Reply to this comment

I dont think he will fold but one thing that was noticeable was his lack of discipline and too much dirty play, he better cut that out of his game or he wont last long.

  • 126.fiftybucks: Reply to this comment

I dont get the persistence in using Paulse, if you want a small guy on the wing, play Russel, he at least has skill.

  • 127.niknak: Reply to this comment

thanks rasta. i guess fava in for chisolm…. would go some way to reducing their line out threat. we could have even risked playing a 1.80m flanker …

  • 128.niknak: Reply to this comment

russel should be dropped purely on the try he conceded against the french. i have seen better skills in park rugby. utter joke.

  • 129.Hmmm: Reply to this comment

Did Pieterson come from Boland Club rugby…..?

  • 130.Hmmm: Reply to this comment

    fifty…..

If possible, go watch the U21 semi and final again….

Pieterson was out of sorts…..he scored 1 good try in the competition and meant nothing thereafter……

If up against either Tuquiri or Gerrad, he is going to fold…….

  • 131.capeflatsboy: Reply to this comment

    Howzit Brother Hmmm

  • 132.Drunkmonkey: Reply to this comment

I watched that guy lukewhatshisname …. he playing out of position also his ball skills not so great … look at that knockon also out of position.

  • 133.Hmmm: Reply to this comment

    Cool and you capes……

  • 134.fiftybucks: Reply to this comment

I dont agree that he will be a liability Hmmm, but I do agree that he needs to be worked on, give him 20 minutes and you will see the creativity he will bring to our otherwise flat backs. I wouldnt put him on the wing though.Paulse will not stand up to Tuquiri either. The try that Russel gave away to the French would have been given away by any of the other players and was just an unlucky freak bounce so thats a stupid argument niknak, there is no other player who could’ve created the try that Russel scored.

  • 135.fiftybucks: Reply to this comment

**** Muir has shown the value of identifying and bringing the talented young-bloods through, and we need to do the same with our boks. England stayed with the same old tired players for too long and look where they are now? “World Champions” who arent worth a damn. Would rather see us building a team that is going to take the next 3 tri-nations and maybe the WC than praying our guys can hold on long enough to maybe win the WC.

  • 136.capeflatsboy: Reply to this comment

I’m all right my man. Just lots of work. At least my team won this weekend.

I am worry it is going to be a bad weekend coming for me. The Wallabies and the Cheetahs to make it black for me.

  • 137.St.Petersburgbok: Reply to this comment

Not a catastrohpe of a side.

As I see it, if Tybilka and Van Der Westhysen perform we are in with a shout.

    Unlikely though.

I bet we see Tybilka subbed at the start of the 2nd half for Spies with Van Niekerk moving to 6?

  • 138.Hmmm: Reply to this comment

    That’s cool capes,

I was stirring on the rugga site on the WP victory……go read if you want…..

fourie kicks way too much possesion away, we need a ducking and diving scrummie like Pienaar, at least that keeps the opposition loosies occupied and therefore space out wide. Simple but effective. Can anyone remember when last Fourie had a dart from the back of a scrum or ruck? I can’t.

“Blooding chiliboy against that Oz front row would be a nice easy way to get him into International rugby.”

Rodney Blake is no a prop to be laughed at!

We wrote off the fench forwards and our FWDS looked like they were on iceskates.

Honestly, Our FWDS arnt much better than the ozzys and our backs are not in the same leugue.

    boks will get thumped.

BASSON IS A SCRUMHALF BEING PLAYED out of position. Why not play him at scrumhalf — imagine his clear thinking & pace from the base of the scrum.

  • 146.ktb: Reply to this comment

And while I am at it –how much better he will be than “dozy du preez”, the latter mentioned is so slow to clear & looks like he is on drugs. Du Preez is vastly overrated.
