Danie Rossouw will be out of action for four to six weeks after tearing a hamstring against the Wallabies.
Rossouw left the field in the 39th minute of the Vodacom Tri-Nations match and was replaced by Albert van den Berg.
Springbok coach Jake White said he would not call up a second-row replacement.
“I don’t think we need another lock,” White told Rapport newspaper. “Albert can come in for Danie and we also have Johann Muller in the squad.”
However, Andre Pretorius may well replace Rossouw in the Bok squad, following Jaco van der Westhuyzen’s poor display in Brisbane.
While Pretorius is still struggling with injury he could be ready to play the Aussies on 5 August in Sydney.
