Watson: I support transformation

Watson: I support transformation

Bok reject Luke Watson does not want to be perceived as a “victim” of transformation.

On Monday, Bok coach Jake White said he could not include the Vodacom Western Province captain in the team ahead of Saturday’s clash against the All Blacks, because “we need to be honest about the sensitivities of the make-up of the team.”

“We have got a guy like Solly [Tyibilika] and we need to show that transformation is happening in our country,” White said.

Watson said he had not been distracted by the massive controversy and was concentrating on Western Province’s match against the Valke in Brakpan tomorrow.

“I don’t want to be seen as a victim of transformation,” he told the Cape Times on Thursday. “I’m a child and supporter of transformation.”

He did, however, praise SA U21 coach Peter de Villiers for his contribution to transformation. Should White quit or be fired, De Villiers would be one of the frontrunners for the job.

You’ve hit it exactly right bru.

Simon, this here horse is somewhat dead old chap, even that spiked plank you’re flogging it with won’t make it get up. Poor horse.

Luke Watson: Springboks, I am Luke Watson…

Jake White: Your’e only 5′9, we need someone who’s seven feet tall.

    Luke Watson: Yes, I’ve heard.
But I Kill men by the hundreds,
and if I were In the springbok squad,
I’d consume the All Blacks with fireballs from my eyes and bolts of lightning from my arse!

    I AM Luke Watson,
and I see a whole team of my countrymen
    here in defiance of sheepshaggers.
You’ve come to play as embarasments,
    and embarasments you are.
What will you do with that embarasment?
    Will you play?

John Smit: Against that? No, we will run away, and we will kiss Jake’s ***.

Luke Watson: Aye, play and you may be embarrassed once again.
Run, and you’ll earn a fat salary… at least a while.
And dying in your own restaurants (like kobus wiese) many years from now,
would you be willing to trade all the days,
    from this day to that,
    for one chance,
    just one chance,
to come back here and tell our enemies
that they may take our tri-nations,
but (if you pick me)they’ll never take our BALL AT THE BREAKDOWN POINT!!!

Stan can’t believe you still criticize Luke. Did you watch the game at loftus? Wait I remember your report, all you could do was blame the bulls performance on your quotas.

    WTF?!!!!

WPRULES (39), Have you completely lost your mind.
Corne? The guy who led the Boks to the infamous 1652 loss on Loftus? And then lead them to the even more infamous Kamp Staaldraad.

Whether Luke is Springbok quality or not, there’s no need to compare him to Corne when it comes to leadership.

  • 59.Stormer: Reply to this comment

Loafer WPRULES is right. Corne was great for Province. Leadership has been missing since he left.

I agree…the Aussies would love Luke. A life in Perth playing for the Force. How sad…I think Schalk Brits may do the same. We are a weird bunch.

Skink nog n dop. Vrystaat, Bulle, WP, N’tal, Despatch! You guys still don’t get it huh, not now, not in the 60′s, the 70′s, the 80′s, even in the new century. Its called irony and the irony is that people who had understanding and compasion then, suffered and still suffer to day because pure selfishness and stupidity, when we should all be liberated from this ****. Fear not every dog gets his day as they say, but I say a mongrel gets a weekend!

Luke you will be the one to take us to new heights PAL,just be patient just do your thing at province, you will be the key at the World Cup.

    Luke,

In these times you are learning a lot about leadership and character that will stand you in good stead later down the line in your life. Patience is key in a warrior and now your own letting go can take place. The letting go of all expectations. You have nothing to prove, only everything to learn.

The Jake era is about to close. I feel that strongly. Jake was never going to be the real deal coach even when he took over. He has reached his zenith and far too many things actually work against him. I think MOST the players want you to lead Luke. Bless John Smit, but his time is up…the time has come…he is never going to get better…I think he knows it…He has had a good run. There’s going to be a shakedown. The whole situation will become untenable for Jake and he will want to leave.

Your work at WP has been profound this year and you are getting the best out of your troops. You are instilling self responsibility and personal leadership within the team. That can only bear good fruit. Stay clear in the imagination of the people…don’t bullshit them, and you will usher in a fresher approach to the kind of rugby we know we can play. Our youth has heaps to offer. It ain’t going to be a bed of roses but the wheel must turn for SA rugby.

Jakes philosophy is a strange one. He genuinely thinks that having 20 million caps is the way to go and not being present in the current flow of who is showing form and has the hunger. He views things from a little box and is sO inflexible and unintuitive. He believes he can re-invent the wheel to force it to work his way. Bless him, one doesn’t want to diss people but hey…he’s like a boy who is top dog. The high chair tyrant.

Keep grounded Luke and watch this space.
