The Vodacom Blue Bulls should be able to welcome back five key players for the clash with Western Province at Newlands in just under a fortnight.
The Bulls are enjoying a well-deserved break this weekend, but several players will be hard at work in the gym in a bid to convince coach Pote Human of their fitness next week.
The Bulls re-assemble on Monday and look like they will get a considerable boost player-wise. “Rayno Gerber, Danie Thiart, Heini Adams, Hilton Lobberts and JP Nel should all be ready for Western Province and that is a massive boost for us,” Human told keo.co.za.
“We owe them one after they came to Loftus and took home the points. A match against Province is always a big occasion and it is especially tough to get a win in Cape Town.â€
The Bulls are behind in the race for the right to host a play-off. Province lead the standings on 33 points, followed by the Cheetahs and Bulls (both 30 points). The Sharks complete the current top four on 26 points.
Counting against the Bulls is the fact that they have played one game more than the rest. The Lions are in fifth place on 21 points, but have also played an extra game.
“I’m looking forward to the last five games and I’m sure we can make it count. I still believe a home semi-final is very much within our grasp.
“With those players back we are almost back to a full squad and coupled with the much-needed rest I think we have a good chance. It promises to be a very exciting couple of weeks.”
The Bulls are not training this week.
