No Jake, you’re hardly playing a B team on Saturday.
The Bok coach’s attempt to win a sympathy vote has little substance ahead of Saturday’s Vodacom Tri Nations test against the All Blacks
Percy Montgomery, Akona Ndungane, Jaque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Butch James and Fourie du Preez. That’s the ‘A’ team as White has seen it for some time. There is no other player White would pick and talk of Ashwin Willemse is nonsense. There is no guarantee he will play at this level again. Marius Joubert is also not better than Jaque Fourie.
In the pack, it is the ‘A’ team front row, with Victor Matfield the first choice lock and by White’s own selections he currently believes Jacques Cronje is the best No 8 in South Africa. That’s why he is playing and Joe van Niekerk is on the bench.
White is three players down for this test in Bakkies Botha, Schalk Burger and Juan Smith. That hardly represents a ‘B’ team.
And no amount of protesting is going to change the fact that it is very much a case of SA ‘A’ against New Zealand ‘B’ on Saturday if you want to play a numbers game of who makes the run on XV when both coaches put out their best team. It is 12 to four in favour of South Africa.
Nice try Jake, but just not good enough to fool those who can do the maths.
