Aussies lash Lady Boks

The Springbok Women were smashed 68-12 by Australia in their first World Cup match in Canada.

The Aussies scored 10 tries to two against a South African side making its debut in the competition. Zolisa Noxeke and Mandisa Willams both crossed over for the Lady Boks.

Meanwhile, New Zealand opened the defence of their title with a convincing 66-7 victory over Canada. The Black Ferns ran in 10 tries as they set down a strong marker for the challengers to their crown.

England found themselves level with the USA 0-0 at half time, but rallied in the second half to win it 18-0.

Scotland defeated Spain 24-0 in their opening game at St Albert Rugby Club. In the final game of the day at St Albert – a Six Nations rematch saw France defeat Ireland 43-0.

Samoa’s greater handling skills and an edge up front saw them beat Kazakhstan 20-5.
