Former Wallaby winger Ben Tune has applauded the return of the Springboks.
Tune, writing in his blog on Rugbyheaven.com, said the second half had heralded the return of the Boks he knew. He commended the Boks for being ferocious in the tackle and said that test matches were defined by who dominated at the tackle. He was in no doubt the victory belonged to the Boks.
“My highlight of the match was Os du Randt’s tackle on the All Blacks captain when he was in space and away for all money,” he said. “I am sure Richie McCaw will have some explaining to do!
“The Wallabies are in for one hell of a battle next weekend in Johannesburg. As my previous post points out and last night’s result backs up, the Springboks are tough to beat at home let alone when their confidence is high. The key to a win next weekend will once again be how committed and disciplined the Wallabies are at the tackle contest.”
Australia haven’t won in South Africa since 2000 and in Johannesburg, the venue for next Saturday’s Test, since 1963.
