Springbok lock Danie Rossouw will make his comeback for the Vodacom Blue Bulls at No 8 against the Pumas on Friday night.
Rossouw was one of seven changes coach Pote Human made to his starting XV for the Absa Currie Cup clash. Rossouw has been out of action since June after injuring his hamstring.
There were four changes in the pack. Apart from Rossouw replacing the injured Derick Kuun, lock Adriaan Fondse gets a chance with Hottie Lous dropping to the bench. In the front row, fit-again Rayno Gerber assumes his place in the No 3 jersey with Danie Thiart starting on the bench. Hooker Adriaan Strauss is rotated with Gary Botha.
At the back, the exciting Stefan Basson replaces Johan Roets in the No 15 jersey, Frikkie Welsh moves from left wing to outside centre for the injured JP Nel and Danwel Demas will start at No 11.
“We had a look at the video from the Western Province game,” Human said after announcing his team, “and we are happy with the way we played. We just didn’t finish off our moves. We had four or five chances that we didn’t take.”
“We will be working hard this week on that.” Human also lamented the number of penalties his team conceded, especially early on in the game against Western Province. The Bulls conceded eight penalties in the first 20 and only a further three thereafter.
“I think it could be because the referees are eager to counter robust play early on and that counts against us. It is something we will address this week.”
