Your weekend odds and former Springbok hooker and CEO of SA Rugby Legends John Allan has given us some betting tips to make this weekend all the more profitable.

After last weeks shock win over the All Blacks, the Springboks will be focusing on ending their Vodacom Tri Nations campaign with a win over the Wallabies at Ellis Park. The Aussies have had a three week break and should be a little rusty, however the Boks have had a rough couple of weeks. The Legensbet bookies have the Boks favourites at R1.55 to win outright and -5.5 on handicap, while and the Wallabies are quoted at R2.50 to win outright and are receiving 5.5 points on handicap. JA believes the Boks will win outright and possibly by more than the 5.5 point handicap. He rates Lote Tuqiri as their best player and with him out, Australia will be at a big disadvantage. This coupled with the fact that Australia have not won at altitude since 1963 and that the Boks have worked out that their strength lies in a running game points towards a Bok victory at Ellis Park on Saturday.

In Absa Currie Cup action this weekend the big game is Friday nights clash between the top two teams Vodacom Cheetahs and Vodacom Western Province, both sides will be looking to take another step towards securing a home semi with a win. The bookies have the home team the Cheetahs favourites at R1.60 and -4.5 points on handicap. JA expects a really close game, but favours WP from a betting perspective he believes that you should be fairly safe backing WP with a 4.5 point start. In other words if you back WP at +4.5 on handicap then if they win or lose by less than 4 points you will win.

In other games the Vodacom Blue Bulls should have an easy time despatching the Pumas at Loftus, the latter are still without a win after 10 rounds. The bookies have set the handicap at 40.5 points. What is certain is that the Bulls will win outright – for that the bookies are offering R1.02. That means you will win only 2c for every R1 you bet! On the handicap, JA believes that the bookies have it spot on so he is sitting on the fence as he expects the Bulls to win by about 40 making it really hard to make a call one way or the other.

The Sharks will be looking for revenge in the return fixture against Griquas after their shock loss in Kimberly. The bookies have set the handicap at 20.5 points. JA respects the Griquas side and while he believes that the Sharks will win outright he doubts that the Sharks will beat them by more than 20.

The Lions, after a surprising win over the Cheetahs, will be looking to extend their promising form with a good win over the Valke in Brakpan. The bookies have the Lions favourites at R1.20 outright and -12.5 points to win on handicap. This is JA BEST BET of the weekend! You back the Lions to win on handicap – that is they must win by 13 points or more and you’ll be laughing all the way to
the bank!
