The Sports Ministry has intervened in the search for the appointment of a Springbok manager.
The SABC reported that, in a letter to the South African Rugby Union, the ministry requested the widening of the net to include coloureds as well.
The letter recommends that three former black Springboks, Liston Ntshongwana, Max Bukashe and Cassiem Jabaar be considered. This brings the number of candidates to four.
Eastern Cape SABC regional manager and former black Springbok Zola Yeye has been a front runner in the race for the position.
Bok coach Jake White wanted Naas Botha to be his manager during the Tri-Nations, but the former Bok flyhalf was ruled out because he’s white.
