Retribution will be Bulls motivation

A 37-28 loss to the Sharks in their first round game at Loftus will be the driving force behind the Vodacom Blue Bulls desire to down their hosts on at the Absa Stadium Durban.

The Bulls dominated the first half and lead 16-3 after 25 minutes, but a lack of concentration and an inability to finish try scoring opportunities cost them.

But being able to include five Springboks means the Pretoria-based side will be confident ahead of Saturday’s vital game.

Non-contracted Boks, Wynand Olivier, Akona Ndungane and Pierre Spies will operate at inside centre, wing and open-side flank respectively.

Springbok utility-forward Danie Russouw, who played at eighthman against the Pumas last week, shifts to the second row to accommodate Pedrie Wannenburg’s return from Tri-Nations duty, while fullback Johan Roets will start in place of Springbok Sevens star Stefan Basson.

Coach Pote Human will be acutely aware that the game will be decisive in determining whether his team still have a realistic hope of securing a home semi-final.
