Boks back in elite group

The Springboks have fought their way into the top three of the IRB World Rankings.

Having begun the season in second position, five consecutive defeats saw the Boks slide to No 4. However, two home wins against the All Blacks and Wallabes in the Vodacom Tri-Nations have edged them back in front of the latter.

The Boks are now just.0.48 points behind France and will move back to No 2 if they have a successful end of year tour. The Boks play Ireland in Dublin and England twice at Twickenham.

If sixth-ranked England have a poor November series, they could be overtaken by Scotland, who are just two points behind their great rivals.
