Staging the Australia Provincial Championship for one season is a waste of time, according to Reds coach Eddie Jones.
The APC will be replaced by an eight-team national club competition next season. With one round to go, the Brumbies lead the competition with eight points, from the Force and Reds on five and the Waratahs on one.
“I think it’s a waste of time to play it in one year, there’s no purpose to it,” Jones said. “We always said this is the competition we need to have. The two games we played have been pretty high quality games, they were physical and played with plenty of passion.
“That’s what we need our players to play, but to play it one year is just a waste of time.”
In this weekend’s final leg of round robin contests, the Reds host the Brumbies at Ballymore while the Waratahs play the Force at Bathurst.
