SA’s Super 14 shock

Keo.co.za has obtained the 2007 Vodacom Super 14 draw that once again puts South African teams at a major disadvantage.

The Stormers probably have the worst schedule, with a six-week overseas tour that includes matches against three of this year’s semi-finalists. They will also have to cross the Tasman Sea twice.

The Bulls will play their first four matches in South Africa (three at Loftus) before going on a five-match overseas tour (luckily they only have to cross the Tasman Sea once), while the Cheetahs spend the first half of the Super 14 at home and the second half away.

The Spears (presuming they play ahead of the Lions) will ‘ease’ into the competition with three home matches before going overseas.

The Sharks have the best draw out of the South African teams, which is fair considering they had the worst this season. They play six of their first seven matches at home, and have just four matches overseas against weaker opposition.

Once again, New Zealand and Australian teams only have to spend a maximum of three weeks in South Africa.
