Lions centre Jaco Pretorius has rejected offers fron the Vodacom Blue Bulls and has signed a three-year contract with the Jo’burg side.
Pretorius has had a fantastic season with the resurgent Lions, scoring a total of seven tries in the Absa Currie Cup. He lists his loyalty to his SA U21 coach as the major reason for remaining on the south side of the Jukskei.
“Eugene Eloff and I have come a long way,” he said. “In the end I decided it would be better for my rugby to remain with the Lions.”
The 25-year-old, who captains the SA Sevens team and boasts over 130 caps, will still be released to play in the big tournaments of the shortened version of the game.
Meanwhile, the Lions have received more good news that injured eighth man Ernst Joubert won’t require surgery to his fractured cheek and may recover in time for the semi-finals.
