Sharkbite for Saracens

The Sale Sharks continue their impressive for in the Premiership as they sunk Saracens 34-26 in a closely contested match.

The Sale Sharks relied on a rousing display from England internationals Mark Cueto, who scored a try and created another, and Charlie Hogson, whose 19-point haul saw his side home.

South African prop, Cobus Visagie was one of three Saracen players to be yellow carded in a game that was close until Hogson’s 75th minute penalty gave the Sharks a lead they would not surrender.

Newcastle continued their poor start to the season when they lost 26-21 to London-Irish. A spate of penalties cost the Falcons dearly as the Exiles Barry Everitt’s flawless kicking display made sure their hosts rued their breakdown infringements.

Worcester remained winless after four games as they narrowly lost 17-11 to Bath. Bath’s only try was scored by scrumhalf Nick Walshe, while Aleki Lutui scored for Worcester. Olley Barkeley and Shaun Berne added the extras with the boot for Worcester.

Gloucester went to the top of the table with a convincing 21-7 win over Northampton. Eighthman James Forrester starred for Gloucester scoring a scintillating try to add to Andy Hazell’s five pointer and Ludovic Mercier’s 13 points with the boot.
