The Reds will battle the Brumbies in next weekend’s Australian Provincial Championship final.
Makeshift Queensland goalkicker Lloyd Johansson slotted a last-minute penalty to secure the Reds a 20-19 victory over the Brumbies on Saturday and ensure that the teams will meet again in the decider.
The Brumbies led 19-0 with seven minutes to go, before a try from former Wallaby winger Ben Tune sparked the Reds comeback.
Mark Gerrard, who was set to play at flyhalf for the Brumbies before picking up a calf injury, has been given until Friday to prove his fitness for the final.
“He had a very slight calf strain on Thursday and the medical advice at that stage was it was a seven-day injury, so we will wait and see how he pulls up and hopefully he will be available,” he said Brumbies APC coach Matt O’Connor.
In the weekend’s other match, the Waratahs beat the Force 41-33, scoring six tries to five.
