Springbok flank Solly Tyibilika is joining Jacques Cronje at the Lions next season.
Tyibilika’s Durban departure comes as no surprise.
He was dropped by the Sharks midway through the Vodacom Super 14 and was then relegated to the bench of the Wildebeest’s Vodacom Cup side.
Despite his lack of game time, the flank was included in Jake White’s Bok squad, becoming the team’s first choice fetcher following the injury to Schalk Burger.
However, Tylibilika was dropped for the Boks’ last two home Tests and has played virtually no role for the Sharks in the Absa Currie Cup this year. He was obviously not wanted by coach Dick Muir, who preferred Warren Britz in the No 6 jersey.
Tybilika is the Lions’ second major loose forward signing following Jacques Cronje’s move from the Bulls.
