The USA ensured their participation in next year’s World Cup when they beat Uruguay 33-7 in the second leg of the qualifier.
Having won the first match comfortably by 42-13, the Eagles ran in five tries to one, with Paul Emerick and Vaha Eskia picking up a brace apiece.
“We qualified for the World Cup, so I am happy about that,” said skipper and flyhalf Mike Hercus on BBC Sport.
“We could have scored a lot more points. We just didn’t adjust to the referee’s calls like we should have. But that is something that will come with time.”
The USA have been grouped in Pool A alongside defending champions England, South Africa, Samoa and another qualifier yet to be determined.
