Your weekend odds and former Springbok hooker and CEO of SA Rugby Legends John Allan has given us some betting tips to make this weekend all the more profitable.

The Absa Currie Cup finally comes to a head with the final match-up between the Vodacom Cheetahs and the Vodacom Blue Bulls. Both teams lost four matches and won 10 in the league stage, finishing with 50 points.

The Bulls will have the psychological edge having beaten the Cheetahs home and away during the league stages of the tournament. The most recent being the 41-31 win at Loftus, which earned the Bulls their home semi. The Bulls will also be further boosted by the return from injury of a few of their uncontracted Springboks in Pedrie Wannenburg and Wynand Olivier.

The odds are R1.70 for the Bulls to win outright and R2.30 for the Cheetahs and the Bulls are 3.5 point favourites on handicap. This means that if you back the Bulls on handicap you can get odds of R1.90 for the Bulls to win by four points or more. Similarly if you back the Cheetahs on handicap they can win or lose by three points or less for you to be a winner.

We chatted to John about the match and this is what he had to say.

“The Bulls were arrogant in last year’s final at Loftus where they chose not to kick for poles which ultimately cost them the Cup,” he said. “I think they will have learned from last year’s mistake. This year they will play their trademark tight game frustrating the Cheetahs who love to run. From a betting perspective my money will be on the Bulls to win outright and on handicap.”
