Queensland Reds prop Greg Holmes will not travel to Europe with the Wallabies due to a neck injury.
The 23-year-old loosehead failed a fitness test in Sydney on Wednesday, and so will miss the Wallabies four-Test tour. He is replaced by the ACT Brumbies’ Nic Henderson.
Holmes has represented his country 11 times, and is best remembered for the fantastic breakaway try against the Irish in Perth this year. He formed part of an inexperienced Wallaby scrum this year, but coach John Connolly had big plans to further develop him and Reds teammate Rodney Blake on this tour.
The Aussies leave for Europe on Friday. The Test team will have a week to prepare for their first game against Wales. Thereafter they play Italy, Ireland and Scotland on consecutive weekends.
