Wendell Sailor’s appeal against his two-year drug ban will be heard in December.
The Wallaby winger tested positive for cocaine just before this year’s Vodacom Super 14 semi-finals and was slapped with the standard ban. Sailor now wants to have the punishment annulled or reduced.
His legal team has until next Friday week to lodge its submissions to the Court of Arbitration of Sport. The ARU then has a fortnight to make its initial response.
“If that opportunity come along and hopefully if my ban got cut, I would probably love nothing more to run out there in a red and white jersey,” Sailor said of a possible return to league with St George Illawarra.
A move to the Dragons has been backed by the club’s coach Nathan Brown who said: “I’m a believer that Wendell should get a second chance, I’m happy to go on the record and say that, he is a good guy.”
