The contracted Springboks who were omitted from the squad for the year-end tour are in Cape Town to undergo more strength and fitness assessments.
This follows a rigourous month-long conditioning camp which commenced shortly after the final Vodacom Tri-Nations game in September.
The group were pulled out of final stages of the Absa Currie Cup and with the view of ensuring they would be in optimum condition for the Vodacom Super 14 and ultimately be more prepared for the World Cup in France.
“The Boks are working with Steve McIntyre (new Springbok fitness trainer) on individual strength and conditioning programs,” Andy Marinos, manager of national teams, told keo.co.za.
“He’ll be monitoring where they are in terms of strength and fitness and also managing any injuries during this time after which they’ll return to their franchises to start pre-season training,” he said.
McIntyre departs for London on Sunday to meet up with the Boks ahead of their two-Tests series against England.
