Mercurial France flyhalf Frederic Michalak will miss the 2007 Six Nations.
It was confirmed that the 24-year-old has ruptured an interior ligament in his right knee. The injury was sustained in Toulouse’s domestic league win over Bourgoin last Friday.
Michalak will undergo surgery on Friday and an initial prognosis suggests that he will be sidelined for at least four months.
The injury will come as a blow to the Tricolores ambitions of defending their Six nations crown.
He has been capped 42 times for France, scoring 243 points.
