Andy’s Goode for Poms

Andy Goode predictably will start at flyhalf against the Springboks on Saturday.

And his selection indicates to expect a game of percentages from England, with Goode not blessed with the distribution skills to offer anything more than the traditional kick to the corners game upon which England has based much of its success over the last decade.

Goode is one of four changes to the side that beat the Boks 23-21, with Bath’s hooker Lee Mears, Sale Sharks lock Chris Jones and London Wasps prop Phil Vickery starting ahead of George Chuter (Leicester Tigers), Ben Kay (Leicester Tigers) and injured Sale Shark Andrew Sheridan.

London Wasps pair Tim Payne and Mark Van Gisbergen strengthen the bench.
