France aim to stop the rot

Dimitri Yachvili and Christophe Dominici will hope to help France from slumping to their fifth successive loss to Argentina in Paris on Saturday.

Yachvili’s inclusions comes as a result of an injury to Jean Baptise Ellissalde, while Dominici’s inclusion sees Aurelien Rougerie drop to the bench.

“Regarding Dominici, it is a rotation which we had decided from the beginning,” team manager Jo Maso told BBC Sport.

“He is not in the team because of the bad match of Rougerie against the All Blacks at the Stade de France.

“We want Dominici better than in Gerland,” Bernard Laporte warned, referring to his poor performance in the first Test against New Zealand in Lyon. “To be credible, he knows that he must be good in his position this time.”

Serge Betsen fails to secure a starting berth despite making an impact when he came on as a second-half replacement in Paris. Laporte though was adamant that the key to overcoming their poor run off form was consistent team selection.

“We need continuity to gain in confidence,” said Laporte. There is no point largely changing a team which played so well for the first hour (last week).

“Serge Betsen, like the others, forms part of the team. He came into play for plenty of time during the second match (against New Zealand) and he still has a role to play here.”

Maso added that a win was crucial to team morale going into a World Cup year and warned that the Pumas would be formidable opponents.

“It is the most important Test this November,” said Maso.

“It could give us a confidence boost for the match of opening of the World cup.

“We cannot finish the November Tests without victory because that would leave us very low. Argentina is a very good team which has enjoyed two Test victories. They have quality in many positions.”
