The Vodacom Bulls received encouraging news ahead of the Vodacom Super 14 when it was confirmed that two injured stars would play in the tournament.
Guthro Steenkamp and Tim Dlulane both sustained serious injuries while representing the Pretoria-based franchise and have been sidelined for a year and four months respectively.
Steenkamp had an operation to re-attach a bone in his wrist which failed and had to undergo a second operation afterwards.
“But the news has been good. The bone seems to have re-attached itself properly and I have begun with light training,” Steenkamp told the Pretoria News.
Dlulane got his head on the wrong side in a tackle in the Absa Currie Cup and had to be stretchered off amidst fears that the injury would end his career.
However he has made a remarkable recovery with the assistance of specialised fitness training under the supervision of the Sports Sciences Institute in Cape Town and is also back in training.
Both players are expected to be back early next year.
