Balshaw favoured for Italian job
6 Feb 2007
Iain Balshaw and debutant Nick Easter are the only two changes for England’s Six Nations match against Italy this Saturday.
Balshaw missed the 42-20 win over Scotland last week due to injury. He replaces Gloucester’s Olly Morgan, but will have to pass another fitness test on Wednesday. Morgan will revert to fullback if Balshaw is deemed unfit.
Harlequins blindside Easter gets his opportunity with Joe Worsely still struggling with the neck injury sustained against the Scots. Worsely is expected back for the Ireland fixture the following week.
Amongst the reserves, scumhalf Shaun Perry comes in for Peter Richards.
England – 15 Iain Balshaw, 14 Josh Lewsey, 13 Mike Tindall, 12 Andy Farrell, 11 Jason Robinson, 10 Jonny Wilkinson, 9 Harry Ellis, 8 Martin Corry, 7 Magnus Lund, 6 Nick Easter, 5 Danny Grewcock, 4 Louis Deacon, 3 Phil Vickery (c), 2 George Chuter, 1 Perry Freshwater. Subs: 16 Lee Mears, 17 Julian White, 18 Tom Palmer, 19 Tom Rees, 20 Shaun Perry, 21 Toby Flood, 22 Mathew Tait.
