Pathetic Poms shoot blanks
10 Feb 2007
England ground out an uninspiring 20-7 win against Italy at Twickenham on Saturday after leading 14-0 at the break.
After the relative euphoria of the Jonny Wilkinson-led victory against Scotland last weekend, the 82,000 capacity crowd were expecting their side to demolish the Six Nations minnows. However, the World Cup holders never really got going and scored just one try through Jason Robinson minutes before half-time.
The second half was forgettable, with Andrea Scanavacca’s try in the 65th minute putting the Italians on the board.
While Wilkinson contributed 15 points, it was Italian scrumhalf Alessandro Troncon who was named Man of the Match.
England may have two wins from two in the Six Nations, but they are going to have up their game substantially if they want to avoid defeats to France, Ireland and Wales.
England – Try: Jason Robinson. Penalties: Jonny Wilkinson (5).
Italy – Try: Andrea Scanavacca. Conversion: Scanavacca.

Up their game substantially if they want to beat Wales? Hmm you must be kidding.
The first 2 building blocks of the Grand Slam in place. Mission accomplished. Next stop Ireland on the Ashton express.

England BEAT Italy, so what’s all this talk of “pathetic” all about? After all, England also beat SA quite recently and squared a two-test series with the Boks.
Well, seeing as SA is only ranked #5, that’s probably not a huge achievement, I guess.

this win serves no purpose but to boost english confidence. They were kak in this game and will need to improve if they want to hav a chance at the frogs

Hah ha its so *** that the two kakest mudpit islands on earth have to have there little one eyed supporters comming on and moaning.
In responce yo #17
But Tackles South Africa beat New Zealand last year aswell?
What does that say about NZ rugby LMFAO.
11 Feb 2007, 11:05 am
SA only won test 3 of a dead rubber, with NZ having won ALL the silverware on offer already. So they sent in their C team, and only lost by 1 point after spending the whole week playing golf at Sun City.
SA hasn’t won a test on NZ soil since the previous CENTURY, dude! And they’re only ranked #5 as of now!
What does that say about SA rugby? ROFLMAO!

4 more years the Tickler !choke choke choke !
11 Feb 2007, 21:01 pm
Well, Graham Henry figured that he’d give his C-team a hit-out at Phokeng and rest his top men seeing as there’s nothing at stake with the silverware won, and they came within only one point of doing a clean-sweep. That, incidentally, was the AB’s only loss the entire year!
They are still ranked #1, unlike the Boks who have taken the lift down to the basement and are now only #5. They play like Eric the Eel swims.
Have your say
