SA’s miracle man

SA’s miracle man

Schalk Burger always knew he would return to the game after his career-threatening neck injury.

schalla_cover.jpgSpeaking in the new issue of SA Rugby magazine, on sale Wednesday, the Bok flank said he’d put his faith in his doctors, and not the media.

“Reading those articles in the press did nothing for my confidence, and I remember being very scared and nervous before the operation. But I knew I’d be all right, having spoken to a couple of doctors who had assessed my injury and assured me the operation would be a success.”

Burger also explains what he did with himself during his time away from the game, and what he wants to achieve in 2007.

Also in the new issue of SA Rugby magazine:

– New scrum laws: Ollie le Roux, Gary Botha and BJ Botha give their verdicts

– Last chance saloon: The superstars Jake can’t ignore

– NEW! World Cup experts: Corne Krige on the All Blacks, Shaun Sowerby on the Poms

Looks like the sharks are the only south african contenders.

If Aus teams are doing so well, it must be because NZ have pulled their best.

Which goes to show, we would have been sucking even more at this stage

Troy Flavell is a joke! a blot on Rugby and a bully boy who has NO idea how Rugby is played.
If he ever becomes an ALL BLACK, I will support the English and I detest those ignorant arse wipes with a vengence.

    k1w1in0z,

Flavell already is an All Black

Jean De Villiers – our very own David Beckham: overrated, overhyped, limited skills (Eng, Aus and NZ inside-centres can all kick), average on-the-field intelligence, average athlete.

  • 16.LionHeart aka Catfish: Reply to this comment

The Lions r slowly but surely getting their act together. With AP back the team is going to click. Be afraid!!!!!

    More almal,

    was lanklaas hier.

Nee hulle koop nog n klein back(Russel).

i think burger should play openside fulltime. this moving around from blind to open isn’t good for the guy

i know it’ll never happen, but the guy would be awesome as openside for a team like the bulls, who are looking for a big openside, and have an excellent tight five, especially when the injured return…

c’mon kobus, play him at open for a few games with luke on blind, lets see what happens…

  • 23.Martin: Reply to this comment

i see the bulls cheated against the cheaters with their subs.they are under investigation.

  • 24.jean div: Reply to this comment

Jean De Villiers is a No. 13
i have never rated him as a inside center.
    Play Peter Grant at 12

  • 25.Tjorts: Reply to this comment

    Staal,

HM wen darem meeste vd tyd, daarom vergewe ons hom as hy verloor.

  • 26.KWV: Reply to this comment

Jean De Villiers is a wing, but not as good as CJ van der Linde.

  • 27.Namwp: Reply to this comment

  • 28.3rdday: Reply to this comment

Grant @ 12. Jean Div on Wing. Kees Lensing at 1, BJ at 3, Bakkies & Victor at lock, Ruan Pienaar at 9 and Andre Pretoors at 10. Its the only way the Stormers will haul themselves off the wooden spoon spot. Unlikely, isn it?

Now that Boland is bankrupt with a crooked sponsor, Mallet should be given the lisence from the board to fire fcukwit Vester and hire – as much as I hate him – Rudi Joubert to see out the season.

    Namwp,

  • 32.KWV: Reply to this comment

    3rd,

Stormers have enough injury prone players…they don’t need AP

  • 36.MR Lam: Reply to this comment

die span sal hulle self beter kan coach as wat Fester nou doen, verlede jaar was dit die span wat goed was nie fester nie

  • 37.GCC: Reply to this comment

we will certainly need schulk at his best for the boks to succeed at the 2007 rwc. schulk, juan and pierre to wreak havoc.

maybe it’s a good thing that schulk plays with this inept tight five; might wind him up sufficiently for the rwc.

  • 38.Namwp: Reply to this comment

  • 39.KWV: Reply to this comment

    MRLam,

CC is not S14. The players obviously need too own up to their **** on the field, but a good coach can do wonders. Just look at J-Quite when he took over the Boks.

  • 40.Namwp: Reply to this comment

  • 41.Namwp: Reply to this comment

Talking about comebacks. I read on another site Guthro might be starting for the Bulls this weekend at prop. would be great to get the guy back.
And, Bulls might move Jaco vd Westhuizen into INSIDE CENTRE coz WO is injured.. mmmm, I like having Jaco back in our backline

  • 47.Andre_WP: Reply to this comment

Goeie more , nice article , maar is Kobus al gefire ?

  • 48.wls1: Reply to this comment

The Bigget problem in the Stormes lineup is the Coach
He is out of his depth
they look like there is no disipline in the camp
I think Fester just wants to be a MANA and lets them all get away with murder.
If i wer skalk and JD i would be trying to get out of there asap.

  • 49.Andre_WP: Reply to this comment
