The copy was on my coffe table for about a week… only read it last night…..
Still no Comment from me in the issue…. What does one have to do to get in it?? Pose naked like Bob??

Great issue though…. Not for the pics but the writing….
Liked the Mitchell piece the most…

As I said before, the cover is a bit touch and go, oops. But I for one am looking forward to picking up my copy in Swede. Really surprised Bod is making the attempted comeback as he was asked about the possibility live on sky sports tv when he was a commentating for them. he laughed and denied it totally. But good for him and the Sharks. Its going to be interesting to see if he gets any starts on the tour and how well he does.

    Grrr,

You have a problem with a ‘***’ cover. Would you also have a problem with a ‘black’ cover?

  • 54.umbhoxoswede: Reply to this comment

Are you actually the self same Simon who writes the articles? I think not.
I know I wouldnt have a problem with a “black” cover…hey you had a very drugged up pic of Breyton a while back on the cover.. Im not sure I read any commnets aginst it. Other than some dude saying he looked stonned. Im surprised you havent had more players of the darker hue on your mag. It would be a good thing.

Playing the cards simon, is speaking out and personal preference such a disgarce that one can not display your own opinion. Shame on you. And how could you be so contrversial in your statement by assuming Grrr is white. So possibly, you are a racist.

May I also remind you of:
Freedom of speech is the concept of the inherent human right to voice one’s opinion publicly without fear of censorship or punishment.

A ‘Black’ cover??? Meaning what? Hope you are not trying to say what I think you are saying…

A don’t have a problem with your ‘***’ cover. I have a problem with you asking our opinion and then telling us we are *** because we don’t like it. Simon, I don’t like your cover. Don’t try to tell me what I can like or should like. Rugby players in suits, rugby players doing GQ type photo shoots. A Rugby mag that wants to be ‘edgy’. I don’t like it and if you don’t want my opinion don’t put up a tread asking it.

Nou onthou ek hoekom ek op daai ander rugga website comment en nie meer nie…

I thought that seeing as you are homophobic, you could very well be a racist too.

  • 58.katman: Reply to this comment

I bet all you republican “*** cover” bashers had a good old peek at Bobby’s torso. Don’t ****** lie to me. Of course you did. That doesn’t make you ***, shock horror. The guy is surprisingly well built – something a lot of us aspire to. Really no need to mention your wandering eye in your next confession.

    Simon

Get over yourself. You edit a magazine, not finding a cure for cancer.

I’m done, do your mag the way you want to. I have never and will never buy it.

And don’t ask me then how I read it when I don’t buy it. The guy who works for me hasn’t seen the light yet…. just Bobby’s midrift.

    By the way:

Simon is a OK guy. Don’t have a problem with him as a person just his mag.

  • 62.Simon: Reply to this comment

    Grrr,

Please don’t ever buy the mag. I would be embarrassed to have you as a reader.

  • 63.Naas: Reply to this comment

Halt the firing squad, Simon, are you defending or promoting the cover, in the best interest of the Mag?

  • 64.shooter: Reply to this comment

According to metaminiorities rule, can you be homophobic, racist, schizo, biased, politically incorrect, insensitive (= freedom of speech) and be recognised in one miniority group with the same protection. Only to speak out on the possible discrimination against this group and do nothing about it. But it must be a recognized group seeing it is also a miniority. then its moral high ground all the way.

at least Bob is in the miniority that can catch a ball.

Simon, you must be from Cape Town – where its all hype but no substance.

Bulls country is where real rugby men are bred.

I’m sorry to say it but I’m getting tired of all these comeback stories.
Wilko, Ashwin, Bobby, Bakkies, Troy Flavell……
When you have MADE the comeback you can boast about it. Not beforehand.

  • 70.Melissa: Reply to this comment

So good, I actually read every single word…even the commercials!

The article on Rose United was a gem. Congrats on a society and club that is a major example to rest of the clubs/provinces and communities in our diverse country.
    I salute you!

  • 72.Mistral: Reply to this comment

Topless pics or not, Bobby looked like the only Sharks player actually up for some rugby when he came on, on Saturday. Looks to me like his comeback is being managed well, and he will still bring real value to the Sharks as they take on the tour.

I don’t care what you all say.. a topless man on
a magazine cover is wrong in any book.. unless its the *** pages or maybe a womens magazine.

I know there are female readers as well but I just don’t believe that they are the majority &
I’m sure that most of them didn’t go out & bought
    the mag themselves.

I say rather have half naked cheerleaders on the
cover & sell more magazines.. – FACT!

Sharks fanboys will buy this edition for their treasure boxes (it reads like a Sharks yearbook).

I’m with Grrrr. No Lions news whatsoever – no matter that the Lions’ revival may probably be bigger than the Sharks’.

The article that Naas does is way too short. Naas must have dictated those word over the phone during an ad break on Supersport. It’s shallow. Use Naas better.

This month’s mag didn’t do it for me, sorry.

The cover sucks and displays shocking marketing and communication skills.

    Needs a thorough review.

Bobby without a shirt? The cover looks like a Stormers mag!

  • 80.Supa Die Bloubul: Reply to this comment

I must admit – I read the magazine in front of some kids and I was silently hoping they saw -SARUGBY – because me reading a mag with of some hasbeen without his shirt must have seemed “stormerlike”.

Yep, not sure what it is but there is an obvious WP bias in the SA rugby media these days.

Why not a story on the resurgence of the Lions??

Why not more stories or comments from Bok legends such as Naas, Gerber, Wright, Heunis??

What exactly has Bobby done to deserve the media coverage he gets??

It would be great to see the article, but SA Rugby Subscription service sucks…….

I live in the states and was delighted to find out I could subscribe. Took two weeks of effort to get someone to reply emails.

Received the first magazine in week 1, in Jan.

Being waiting for next magazine, but no-one replies to emails…..

Great magazine if you can get it.

    ….guess

#74 The Lions comeback probably hadn’t started yet when these pages went to press. I guarantee there will be something on them come the next edition. Maybe an article on Mujati and the “Beast” would be interesting as well. What do you say Simon?

  • 87.Fern: Reply to this comment

I think the cover had a *** look to it.Simon I see you took a lot of offence so that cover must have been your artistic work.I am not homophobic, but it looks ***.Just calling a spade a spade. As for telling a poster here that you are glad he doesnt buy your mag is in bad taste,if you had a real job in the real world and told a client that your *** would have been fired.I guess you are just frustrated by bad pay and a journo career going nowhere fast, channel the anger constructively midget boy.

  • 88.umbhoxoswede: Reply to this comment

Simon, morning. How about an article on the 1995 Springbok World Cup squad. What they have been up to, where they are and what they are doing. Could be a good read.

  • 89.RugbyStudent: Reply to this comment

Do you guys just read the cover? That says alot about our level of rugby supporters.

  • 90.RugbyStudent: Reply to this comment

The cover was necessary to stun people who believed Bobby was fat and aged! I think it made its point. I think we got a lot of people not too comfortable with themselves. I think a lot of people, especially the Bulls fans wanted to see Bob old and fat (like Anton Leonard). Now that its proven, he isn’t, they are angry! lol!

yah, much better if you had bands, or ollie on the cover with no top. or better yet steenkamp.
A comeback article for those 3, all in a ‘front three’ scrum without their shirts, that will be a laugh..
