Sevens Boks light up London

The Springbok Sevens have got off to the perfect start at the London leg of the series, winning two pool games and qualifying for the Cup quarter-final.

They lost 17-14 in the final pool game to England, but just needed to avoid defeat by 16 points to qualify for the play-offs.

Paul Treu’s charges are already out of contention for a series win, but they will be determined to reel in New Zealand and secure third place on the overall standings.

SA lost to England and only beat Portugal by one try. Hardly setting London alight, is it?

So, #4, do you think that a start which includes a defeat and a scratchy 5-point win over a minnow like Portugal indeed IS a “perfect start”, then?

I’d say you set your standards of perfection way too low!

I’ll call it like I see it. It’s a pathetic start.

The last paragraph states Fiji were held to a 19 all draw by Russia. The results however show a 62-0 thrashing of Russia and a draw to Argentina.

Its that the perfect start – losing one of your pool games and being happy if you dont get beaten by 16 points to qualify I’d hate to see bad start.

If SA had the perfect start then what about Samoa or NZ?
