Back row blues for Gold
24 Jul 2007
Luke Watson has failed a fitness test and will be out of action for the next two weeks.
The Western Province captain suffered a knee injury in the dying minutes of Saturday’s loss to the Blue Bulls. After several tests and a visit to a specialist he has been excluded from the Cheetahs game in Bloemfontein.
Francois Louw is also sidelined due to a neck injury while a call still needs to be made on Tonderai Chavhanga, who took a nasty knock to the head last weekend.
Coach Gary Gold will now have to decide on the make-up of his back row. Gerrie Britz is likely to hang onto the No 7 jersey as he provides some much needed strength and height in the line-out, but the other two spots are less certain. Justin Melck is available, but he may play openside with Robbie Diack slotting in at No 8.
Another option is to start young Pieter Myburgh at 6 with either Melck or Diack packing down at the back of the scrum.
The WP team to play Free State will be announced on Thursday afternoon.

OR, Justin Melck could start at 7, the position that he made his own last season, and Gerrie Britz can get his fat *** back to the bench.

Melck is still suspended ?! Give Pieter Louw the spot, he looks like a solid grafter.

Good news! Luke is ruining rugby.

Francois Louw didn’t play last week, so I hope you really mean he is injured and not Pieter Louw.
Anyway – Melck, Diack, Hendricks, Pieter Louw and Myburgh are all acceptable replacements.

So the over-rated little “honorary black” fella has “transformed” himself into a sicknote of Jonny Wlikenson proportions, by the look of it?

Jeez Mr Tackler
You’re a bit rough mate.
If you dont think these message boards aren’t monitored then you are absolutely stupid.
How many similar observations and messages of similar ilk over the media do you feel it will take before your rugby team is again selected on a racila basis and again you are excluded.
Grow up NOW and pull your head and your brainless comments in.

In a free world it’s still OK to ask questions, isn’t it?

Most are capable of asking questions without being pigheadedly offensive as you were.
Have your say
