Pumas put heat on Chile

Argentina thrashed neighbours Chile 70-14 in a World Cup warm-up match.

Flyhalf Felipe Contepomi scored 25 points as the Pumas ran in 10 tries including two each from fullback Federico Serra and flanker Juan Fernandez Lobbe.

Argentina fell behind twice early in the match when Chile wing Cristobal Berti intercepted two Contepomi passes to score tries, but they fought back to lead 28-14 at the interval.

The Pumas made 11 changes in the second half and quickly ran away with things.

There was one negative note for coach Marcelo Loffreda. Centre Gonzalo Tiesi took a knock on the cheek and could miss the World Cup if there is a fracture.

28-14 at half time, not bad for Chile.

Ha! the pumas are back big time! This proves that they will win the world cup. And it does not matter that they played Chile’s F team either!!!

These dudes are apparently 50-1 for the WC … could be a worthwhile bet. Most of their top players are very used to French conditions.

Unlucky that they dont get a proper warm-up game for such a good team. I still they don’t think they will make it out of their pool though, unlucky draw…

Maybe if they were allowed into the Tri-Nations things would be different.
