Strettle’s on sidelines

England wing David Strettle has been ruled out of the World Cup with a broken bone in his left foot.

Strettle suffered the injury training at England’s University of Bath base on Tuesday and will have a screw inserted into the fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot in London later on Thursday. He will be out of the game for 12 weeks.

“On behalf of the squad I feel desperately sorry for David as, like many others, I am sure he would have made a huge contribution to our World Cup campaign,” coach Brian Ashton said.

“The England medical team will be in regular contact with their counterparts at Harlequins and I look forward to seeing David playing again in the not too distant future.”

Ashton will name his 30-man squad next Tuesday.

Bad news for England, good news for SA.

IN a team full of might be’s, he is probably the closest to a good player – loss for England no doubt.

I dunno, he had one good game in the 6 nations. I think they will strengthen their side with one of the other wings coming in.

Simon, do you have a mate who reads the Metro to you in the morning & you provide the info on Keo?

I feel no pitty for the Poms, an average player in an average team.

The only real star in their team is Wilko and he is a known sick note. They may as well raise the white flag today.

An unknown player by the name of Whogote Widebottom will be replacing Strettle.

    #4

all u read now days in the Metro is about blerrie Doherty and his trashy girlsfriend’s last quarrel at this and that frickin nightclub last night, goodlooking trash Moss is…

BUT, the poor Strettle is not going to be missed too much after the 3d rate poms were thrashed in SA. He was in the team for that reason, there are a number of better wings, i.e. Sackey etc.

I have to sit 2-2.5 hours each day on the bloody tube and Southwest overland and have read it the first couple of months, got fed up with the same faces and decided the Londonlite & Thelondonpaper were even worse.
Luckily Simon has not got wind of them yet…

O ja and LondonBul, I thought I was the only Bulle supported in London. Current lot playing the currycup looks scrappy though, I thought they sort of scraped through against the kavaliers last weekend.
Wonder if the Bulls bokke will pitch up in time for die Jakarandastad to take the Cup again?

    that is only Bulle supporter…

good to see some others as well

11 – Ja, we are battling a bit this CC. A lot of our guys are in Bok squad. And some injuries of course. Have you heard Pote Humans son is playing for the Bulls this weekend?

I have met some Bulls supporters around here, mostly Sharks though. The Super 14 final was tough (aside from the last couple of minutes though :) )

PFS – It is F%$£*ng hard to watch a game over here. It is a disgrace. My friend in Netherlands watch it on Kuduclub, but we can’t in the UK (I think Sky has got the rights).

    LondonBul
I also have KuduClub over here, but you and the Oz/NZ boys can’t can’t get it there.
    As you say, TV rights.

Ja ek kak my vol every weekend when I am trying to watch the good games and cannot due to Sky only showing blerry province playing the Griquas or North Freestate or something like that.
I have never tried to connect to Kuduclub, are u saying Sky does not allow it due to rights? Flipped!
Some of the new laaities playing in the Bulls CC team are lekke wet behind the ears, and i cannot believe that Hougaard, Steyn and the fullback are playing such crappy games nowdays. Hell, and then we lost that nippy little scrumhalf and now have to battle with the Nam boy who just is not good enough. Lots to have to drink myself into a stupor every Saturday. And Pote’s son – I heard about him – is just not as good as Wickus or even close. Am i right in saying he is playing in the loose trio? Pote was a real yster in his days, maybe we need to get the old toppie no 8 back from the last 5 years, shucks, cannot remember his name also. Need a Guinness…
And I think the Cheetas are really going to donner ons op this weekend!

Is it through the web as I understand it?
Other question since you started it some days ago, the SARSU website, how often do people update the articles or supply new articles on it?

Sorry, I was out for a while.
    Yes, Korea, on mediazone.
And very reasonable, about R60 per month.
You have all the SA rugby, even schools, plus B&A, magazines, Carte Blanche, and such.

I can’t tell about SARSU, it has only been going for two months now, so perhaps the articles aren’t pouring in on a daily basis yet.
    Are you SARSU?
