Sevens Boks ousted by Aussies

Paul Treu is upbeat despite the Springbok Sevens’ early exit from Sunday’s warm-up tournament in Darwin.

The Boks went down to the Aussie Spirit, a side comprising many of the national Australian players, in the semi-finals of the Hottest 7s tournament, but Treu is confident his side will be ready for the next leg of the IRB Sevens series in Wellington.

“We used this tournament to put into practice what we have been doing at our training sessions in Stellenbosch,” said Treu “We really needed this tournament to get our match sharpness back.”

The Wellington competition runs from 1 to 2 February. The Bok Sevens side are yet to make a final in the current series, going down to Fiji in the Dubai semi-finals and then losing to New Zealand in the penultimate game in George.

Jeez…JL1 etc,you guys are unbelievable!!!The Sevens Boks are always in the top 3,paul Treu feeds off the scraps left over from the unions…2008 is the first that the 7′s has had secured specific year-round contracts which will allow for consistency and less disruptions.

Demas,Stick,Juries,Denzell,Mokuena,Zanqwa are some of the best in the business…developed purely of the back of Treu without the support of the Unions,Sarfu,Big business etc.(Juries is the 3rd leading try scorer in sevens history…and he missed 2yrs!!!!!!)

Just look at Nz sevens,Gordon Tiejens has been coach for nearly 20 yrs with star players like Muliaina,Rokocoko,Messam,Perenise,Tahana,Hosea Gear,Cory jane all passing through his guidance.Stalwarts such as Rush,Vaka, etc always manning the fort.Serious planning, serious support and most importantly serious money!!!

U guys are unbelievable…biggots of the highest regard!!!

Too many skinny dudes who are speedy, but can’t tackle. Get blown away by the size and power of Fiji and NZ all the time (Ok so we win the odd game). How long do you persist with a side that always gets smacked in the semi’s before you look for new blood?

ST when you say “are” do you mean the player and management? anyway, no I do not beleive it is a financial issue. maybe heyneke should couch this team…but then he’s not a watson..
