Frederic Michalak is a model, a gay icon and music producer. But he wants you to remember him as a rugby player.
SA Rugby magazine visited the French flyhalf in Durban on the eve of the Super 14 to extract the man behind the hype.
“I’m here for the rugby and not for the party as some would have you believe,” he says. “I’ve always dreamt of playing Super Rugby and I’m not going to blow my opportunity.”
In the mag, Michalak reveals why he joined the Sharks, which Sharks players he rates and why this pre-season has been the toughest of his career. He also explains the meaning behind his tattoos, why he prefers children to adults and why he’s a big fan of hip hop.

I am waiting with my breath held to see how FM does. There has been a lot of hoo ha about him in the press. I think only time will tell us what he is capable of in super rugby.
I’m also anticipating a great game on Friday against the force. The force are on the rise and they have a good team. It will be great game of rugga.

I’m Zulu…I understand a bit of Afrikaans (it helps when it’s written as opposed to spoken). It doesn’t offend me when Afrikaans people talk to each other in Afrikaans and hopefully it won’t offend anyone if I talk to another Zulu person in here using our own language.
I don’t care who started it but the insults from both sides were uncalled for. Anyone- apologies have been offered so let’s get back to the rugga.

as an insider i just want to tell everyone that here at Newlands we are crapping ourselves for the game against the Bulls.
its hard to tell on TV but those guys are so big and tough! we tried to get some ruffians from belville to help us at training, but our hairstylists advised against it, because we had all just had our roots done.
anyway Ricky says that if the going gets tough, we must all just get behind him, ’cause he’s going to donner them all. which is why he has been growing his *** so wide, so we can all get behind there..
when he gets his new contacts and sees how big these guys really are, we will have to make a new plan.
and watch Bobo on the weekend, he’s from the sharks, so he’s really good. we hope he’ll score some tries. we’ll fix his hair soon too.
