Frederic Michalak is a model, a gay icon and music producer. But he wants you to remember him as a rugby player.

SA Rugby MagSA Rugby magazine visited the French flyhalf in Durban on the eve of the Super 14 to extract the man behind the hype.

“I’m here for the rugby and not for the party as some would have you believe,” he says. “I’ve always dreamt of playing Super Rugby and I’m not going to blow my opportunity.”

In the mag, Michalak reveals why he joined the Sharks, which Sharks players he rates and why this pre-season has been the toughest of his career. He also explains the meaning behind his tattoos, why he prefers children to adults and why he’s a big fan of hip hop.

    #165 – I also think Freddie is going to have a blinder of a season. Michalak and Steyn in the same team…twill be the march of the gifted, unpredictable, sublimely talented penguins.

    However, 1 word of caution. If they both happen to “suck” on the same day…..the Sharks might struggle.

    #166 – Arghhh, we went twice. Hubby stormed out of Incredible Connection TWICE. He has now taken it on himself to “find me a feckin laptop” that should cater to all my needs….The deadline is Friday.     This will surely be the slowest of all weeks…as someone once said…it will be worse than watching someone watching paint dry.

    I was hoping for some last minute bashing from all sides before all the teams step on the grass, because I’m afraid after the weekend a lot of dreamers will be brought back to reality.
