Tahu to terrorise Canes
12 Feb 2008
Much hyped league convert Timana Tahu will receive his first taste of Super Rugby when he starts for the Waratahs against the Hurricanes this Friday.
Coach Ewen McKenzie has opted to include Tahu on the wing in an exciting back-three combination with Lote Tuquiri and the electric Lachie Turner. Tom Carter is also a new addition at inside centre while Kurtley Beale is entrusted with a start at 10.
Tuqiri hasn’t played in any of the pre-season matches and recently underwent surgery to clear his breathing passage of a blockage. The Wallabies winger has reportedly made a full recovery and is operating at 15% better than before the operation in terms of aerobic capacity.
Waratahs – Matt Dunning, Adam Freier, Al Baxter, Dean Mumm, Dan Vickerman, Rocky Elsom, Phil Waugh (c), Wycliff Palu, Brett Sheehan, Kurtley Beale, Lote Tuqiri, Tom Carter, Ben Jacobs, Timana Tahu, Lachie Turner.
Subs: Tatafu Polota-Nau, Benn Robinson, Will Caldwell, Beau Robinson, Luke Burgess, Sam Harris, Alfi Mafi.

Tahu? Collins must be licking his lips. I’m supporting the Canes (as my overseas team) cause cane is such a nice Kiwi…

Wouldn’t be so sure mate.
Tahu looks the goods. Watched him in a few of the season openers.
Devastating pace, and tackles like a *******. Just ask Tuiali’i who must feel as though the Penrith express smashed into him midway through the first half. The Tah’s are looking a much improved side from last year’s woeful Super series. Now if someone could just shunt Lote off to the reds, all will be right with the world again.
Go your hardest the Tah’s

No doubt Tahu will make it in 15′s- he’s a natural, but Tahs problem has never been the back 3. Apart from Tuqiri’s lack of any contribution of note. I think they should worry about Beale at 10 and hope he has a better season than the last one . Between him and Norton-Knight is where it all started going pearshaped. As for Tuqiri- did management finally succeed to deflate his ego. Must’ve been one hellafa blockage…!

Aish! McD did you hear Lote’s take on the Henjak affair…something along the lines of these things happen in a team invironment and is nothing big! Feck, he broke a teammates jaw in a pub brawl, wrong on so many level, where do I start? Lets just say I would prefer my teammates to safe the rough and tumble for the opposition if they get the urge…

HI Koos,
Henjak does sound like a boof head doesn’t he. I must say the Tahs and Reds do look good this year. Not so much in depth but the starting line up looks good. I also found a link on Fox news to mediazone in which I can download any game for $4.95, its six hrs later but at least I’ll see it, pretty good don’t you think

Howzit SAus, he seems to be a problem child delux, not like he has not had warnings before but it seems he just can’t help himself.
Can you actually get that in Oz? Thought it was only outside of the broadcasting zone. I got Fox re-installed a couple of months ago after a few years without it, going to be good to see some rugby again.

Koos
I heard that Lote stands next to Ben Cousisn whever possible at functions … makes him looks better
Are either of them (Henjak or Tuquiri) people you want your children to percieve as role models ?
Why do we accept lower behavioural standards from people we pay a fortune to (with the tickets we buy) than we would accept from our family, friends or neighbours ? An attitude adjustment needs to made – ours – they would fall into line soon enough if the money their employers leech out of us dried up I am sure.

More Princess, I assume they share the same supplier, sort of getting volume discounts and all
The kuk is going to spat, O’Neill is the moer in and he does not take any nonsense. Expect a few major changes in Oz rugby coming to your screen soon…

Some serious damage control to be done out West.
Watching the back page last night the fella’s agreed that the water in WA must be tainted. Season isn’t underway and we have had issues from both football codes, as well as a few of the cricket lads losing their heads after the 20/20 final.
Different breed out west thats for sure.
13 Feb 2008, 05:44 am
Its the heat McD! They have had some extreme temps out West…
13 Feb 2008, 05:46 am
Haha yes. My oldman works on a mine somewhere in the middle of blady nowhere. Northern WA is the best i can do. Temps consistantly in the mid 40′s…

Beale went rather well during the short lived ARC. Know its nothing like Super rugby, but the lad was a stand out. Would have done his confidence the world of good.

Koos
You are probably right & those Ockers being tight fisted b*stards will undoubtedly not be paying top dollar for their drugs either … ergo they are probably cut with something even dodgier than coke
Maybe it is that peculiar wind they get … the doctor something ? Like the Santa Anna in California sends people off their rockers.
On a diff note : Have you played either those courses I mentioned yesterday ? Are they any good ?
13 Feb 2008, 05:51 am
‘middle of blady nowhere’…sheesh, does not even start giving any indication where that is. I mean WA is in the middle of blady nowhere…!
Beale looks very light and the odd brainfart may make things difficult for him, but a boy for the future for sure.
13 Feb 2008, 05:55 am
The Freo doctor, nope, that will just be a cool sea breeze but who knows what sets these idiots off?
Aish, one was Brookwater, the other one?
Anyway, I can easily say I have not played on either but I know Brookwater is suppose to be very nice… Lots of help I am!

Middle of nowhere translates to about 200km’s South East of Broome
13 Feb 2008, 06:12 am
Thought so McD, name eludes me know but magnesium mines if not mistaken?
13 Feb 2008, 06:12 am
Brookwater & Pacific Harbour were the courses – where do you play ?
13 Feb 2008, 06:20 am
Princess, its been a while since I played a round…but if you want to and let me know why, I can ask around.
13 Feb 2008, 06:23 am
Koos
No particular reason … I just wanted something up my sleeve in case I needed to offer you a bribe – assuming ofcourse that an AB jersey was not going to do the trick
Hey, where is Manly ? I am starting to worry that he has been shot by a jealous husband
13 Feb 2008, 06:31 am
As your sensei you should know I am beyond bribery…but don’t let that stop you trying!
Manly was here a little earlier, mumbled something about putting his bitchhouse on the Stormers for the S14 and then dissapeared again…
13 Feb 2008, 06:47 am
Yes Sensei okay, after all I don’t want to make you uncomfortable by showering you with access to nice golf courses
I see you have not posted your picks – why so coy ?
Maybe, for a change, the gravy train that is his business has derailed just marginally leaving him without millions to count & he has gone into
?
13 Feb 2008, 06:56 am
Koos who you supporting in the Super14?
13 Feb 2008, 06:57 am
I will repeat, don’t let that stop you trying! Gives me an opportunity to ‘sharpen’ the skills…you know, accepting them graciously, enjoying it and then still not giving into demands!
Waiting for a few teamsheets before I drop the picks. Sure half, make that three quarters of the names will mean nothing to me but it makes me feel like I am making educated guesses. Besides, I am still waiting for the rundown of the research you did…!
Maybe he just got distracted and had to start all over again.
13 Feb 2008, 06:59 am
McD, born and bred Vrystater! No great hope for them this year but hey, we know all about patience, I mean we had to wait 29 years for some sweet success in the CC
13 Feb 2008, 07:01 am
Koos,
No I don’t want to put you under any pressure … Might reconsider around your birthday
My research is in spreadsheets ergo cannot post here
Oohh … had not considered the possibility of too much cash ! I hear the last time he ws robbed no gun was involved – they used a stripper instead
13 Feb 2008, 07:27 am
Which brings us back to the original point from looong ago, is my birthdate highlighted in your spreadsheet?
Wanted to say that robbery sounded like an inside job but then realised the clientel knowing about the ‘weakness’ must be deep into the hundreds…
13 Feb 2008, 09:10 am
There is too much hype surronding Tahu and his likely success.
i would be very impressed if he pulls it off early in the game but I have my doubts that he will impress early on.
Too many rugby league players have come in promising much and delivering little…wendell sailor being the worst of them…what a waste of money!
He was a bus looking for passengers in a a busy car park.
13 Feb 2008, 09:44 am
There Aussie league converts having been nothing but over-hyped, overpaid addicts of one kind or another. I wonder if he’ll be any different?
13 Feb 2008, 10:46 am
Hell end up on the bottle, drugs or molesting animals…

Greetings all. Canes to win this one, any team that has Al Baxter and Doughnut as the starting props is in real trouble. Vickerman has to stay fit and focused or it could be another bad year for the sheila’s in sky blue.
As for my team the Reds, I will, as always, be hopeful in the heart but the head says 10th at best, and they will fight it out for the wooden spoon with the other 3 Australian teams and the Highlanders and Lions.
13 Feb 2008, 12:54 pm
Seamus, to answer your question I think he will be different/better. Great tackler, fast, runs into gaps and good hands. As a person, not a stuckup **** like Lote has become, or a showboater like Wendell, or umm like Matt Rogers.
13 Feb 2008, 16:31 pm
Who is kicking for this team?
Have your say
