Huxley’s tumour shock

Huxley’s tumour shock

Brumbies fullback Julian Huxley has a brain tumour.

The tumour, at the top of his brain, was discovered during medical scans he underwent after being injured in the Brumbies’ win against the Reds. He was carried off the field in the second minute of the match.

Huxley issued a brief statement after telling his team-mates.

“It was a huge shock when the doctor told me I had a tumour,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s obviously been with me for some time and I’ve never felt any sort of illness.

“The challenge for me now is to get on with gathering the best advice from the specialists and neurosurgeons, dealing with it and recovering as quickly as I can.”

Huxley has apparently had the tumour for several years and it is benign. At the moment it is unclear when he will be able to play rugby again.

This is a bummer. Too sad to go ‘Dragons’. Best of luck for a speedy recovery! Even if you’re a Ozzie!

a friend of mine who i play golf with, had one removed from the side of his head, the size of a tennis ball!!! they stiched him up and he was playing golf a month later…i realise rugby is totally different, but it’s not always career ending

It is a benign tumour. Not brain cancer.

    Well Julian…

You really had me scared for those 4 minutes; you looked just like an animal that took a headshot! Get UP, get it sorted and best of luck!

Just a thought: Our Rugby is **** but believe it or not, SA actually has some of the best neurologists in the world… if you would like a third opinion… those Aus$$$$$ will take you far here!

Hope we will see you playing sooner than later!

As for the Tackler, he’s been suffering from Amnesia since he migrated to NZ!!Something to do with a tumour stuck up his rear!!

So, when they undergo medical tests at the start of the season to determine if a player is fit to play for a Super 14 team it’s not that comprehensive, I guess

Maybe they should include brainscans….it’s a contact sport after all

It could solve a few mysteries too….Does JP Nel have a brain, etc

Best of luck mate. Keep the thoughts positive. Worst thing to do now is feel sorry for yourself. Go out & beat it. All the best of luck and we all hope you recover 100%

The moment I saw him shake like that on the field, I knew it wasn’t a concussion. I’ve seen that before.

All of the best to Julian, his family and mates!
