Huxley’s tumour shock
3 Mar 2008
Brumbies fullback Julian Huxley has a brain tumour.
The tumour, at the top of his brain, was discovered during medical scans he underwent after being injured in the Brumbies’ win against the Reds. He was carried off the field in the second minute of the match.
Huxley issued a brief statement after telling his team-mates.
“It was a huge shock when the doctor told me I had a tumour,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s obviously been with me for some time and I’ve never felt any sort of illness.
“The challenge for me now is to get on with gathering the best advice from the specialists and neurosurgeons, dealing with it and recovering as quickly as I can.”
Huxley has apparently had the tumour for several years and it is benign. At the moment it is unclear when he will be able to play rugby again.

This is a bummer. Too sad to go ‘Dragons’. Best of luck for a speedy recovery! Even if you’re a Ozzie!

So, when they undergo medical tests at the start of the season to determine if a player is fit to play for a Super 14 team it’s not that comprehensive, I guess
Maybe they should include brainscans….it’s a contact sport after all
It could solve a few mysteries too….Does JP Nel have a brain, etc

Best of luck mate. Keep the thoughts positive. Worst thing to do now is feel sorry for yourself. Go out & beat it. All the best of luck and we all hope you recover 100%

The moment I saw him shake like that on the field, I knew it wasn’t a concussion. I’ve seen that before.
All of the best to Julian, his family and mates!
