Thinus off to Japan

Thinus off to Japan

Former Springbok fullback Thinus Delport has signed a contract to play for the Kubota Spears in Japan.

Delport played 18 Tests for the Springboks after making his debut against Canada in 2000, scoring three tries in his career. He will finish the season with the Worcester Warriors in the Guinness Premier League, after starting his career in England with Gloucester.

“Thinus is playing some of the best rugby of his career but is going to Japan where they only play 14 games,” director of rugby at Worcester, Mike Ruddock, told the BBC.

The 33-year-old could make his 100th Premier League appearance against Leicester on Saturday.

“..some of the best rugby of his career..”

LOL the english league is waaay overrated. Play some Super rugby and u’ll look ordinary, at best.

    He was cool tho (Thinus)

Thinus scored some great tries in his time. Wonder how Werner Swanepoel feels about this? Thinus leaves him to run the Dros on his own while he accumulates pounds and yen like a mad man. Advantages of being the non-operating partner I suppose…

Footnote: There’s a bigger chance that the Kubota Spears will play in the Super 14 than the Southern Spears.

    All sterkte aan Thinus.

He is a quality player. Was top Currie Cup try scorer in a season when the Currie Cup was still the premier comp in SA and he scored the try of the season in the English Premier League a couple of seasons ago.

I think Thinus is gonna run over those Japenese outjies.
