Andre Nel and Johan Botha have become the latest transformation casualties.
Both have lost their Test spots for the tour to India, with Charl Langeveldt replacing Nel and Robin Peterson coming in for Johan Botha.
This means the Proteas will have the required six players of colour in the 14-man squad, with Ashwell Prince, Hashim Amla, JP Duminy and Makhaya Ntini also selected. Herschelle Gibbs, another player of colour, has again been overlooked for Neil McKenzie, who made 226 in the second Test.
Intital reports claimed Nel was so emotional after being told of his omission that he pulled out of the second ODI against Bangladesh, and was replaced by Morne Morkel. However, Nel is playing in the match and has taken three wickets for 27 runs in seven overs. Nel missed the two-Test series against Bangladesh with a hamstring strain, but took 3-24 in 10 overs in the first ODI last Sunday.
Botha was named in the Proteas Test squad for the Bangladesh series ahead of Peterson, who arrived as an injury replacement for Paul Harris. Peterson came into the series having taken eight wickets in five Tests at an average of 50, but claimed his first five-for in the second Test against Bangladesh. The selectors can therefore argue that he has been rewarded for good form.
