Dazel pips Pumas
29 Mar 2008
A last gasp try by Renfred Dazel saw South Africa beat Argentina 19-14 and secure a place in the Hong Kong Sevens quarter-finals.
The Springbok Sevens side had come into this match having beaten the Russians 48-0 earlier in the day. Argentina dominated for most of the game but a breakaway by Dazel at the death ensured the Boks qualified for the play-offs. They will meet Australia on Sunday.
New Zealand are looking the team to beat with commanding displays against Tunisia (38-0) and USA (47-7). England managed to upset Samoa but the islanders have qualified for the next round and will meet the Poms once again.
Hong Kong Quarter-finals:
New Zealand v Wales
Kenya v Fiji
South Africa v Australia
