Jonno the new manager

Jonno the new manager

Martin Johnson is set to be named as England manager next week.

The Times reports that Johnson has agreed in principle to the management role. Terms will be finalised next week with the Rugby Football Union (RFU), and his appointment should be confirmed thereafter.

Johnson will only take over after England’s tour of New Zealand in June – his wife is expecting their second child at that time - and this signals the end is near for Brian Ashton as Johnson will gain control of selection as well as the hiring and firing of individuals. Ashton could be asked to lead to the team to New Zealand, but whether he will be available with the pending news is debateable.

Others linked to the Johnson regime in coaching capacities include Australian Pat Howard, Graham Rowntree, and John Wells – all of whom have links with Johnson’s former club, Leicester.

    Calm down big hit.

Your enthusiasm is understandable after recent events, but the idea of getting an ex ‘hero’ player with about ’0′ coaching experience does not inspire confidence.

How will he give England an edge in a coaching role? By glaring at them and telling them to play dirtier? hardly any of the England boys can even catch a ball yet.

I predict Johnson throws a tantrum and leaves after a batch of **** results.

Are you guys pissed? Jonno commands great respect! I still believe they won’t have what it takes to beat us, except perhaps in a fortunate one-off, but he knows his stuff and will get everything out of his players. For me tho, he’s a little too young in the tooth to take a team right to the top.

Jake White must be the first world cup coach not in demand. Even if he publicly expressed his desire to caoch a team like England. I wonder why. Is it his dinosaurus thinking about playing patterns? Ten man rugby etc. Maybe his stupid book. Why? He has said many dumb things in his life. His book was the cherry on the cake.
Which prospective employer in his right mind will appoint a guy who might turn around and write a book loaded with sensation, half truths and seemingly untruths about his relation with them?
Your book might have made you rich moneywise, Jake. But I sense that you are much poorer in many ways now.
The 8 or 9 coaching offers that you talked about never materialised. Imagination? Truth? Half truth? A blatant lie? You will know, sir.
