Jouba jols for Clermont

Jouba jols for Clermont

Marius Joubert was irrepressible for French Top 14 side Clermont in their 23-11 win over Toulouse.

The victory at the Stade Ernest-Wallon in Toulouse takes Clermont to the top of the log, five points clear of the Toulouse.

Joubert, who by all accounts has had an outstanding season with Clermont, continued that good form, breaking the defensive line thrice and proving impenetrable on defence.

Springbok captain John Smith was solid for Clermont, while Toulouse’s South African contingent of Shaun Sowerby and Daan Human impressed as well. Sowerby was injured late in the game forcing him to be replaced but the most significant injury blow for Toulouse came when France winger Vincent Clerc was stretchered off with what has been diagnosed as ruptured knee ligaments.

Clerc collapsed without being touched and television replays show his knee moving out of socket just before he fell. He is expected to be out for at least six months.

In other matches, Perpignan’s Percy Montgomery kicked 4 from 6 in difficult conditions to play his part in a 38-13 win over Bayonne. The victory elevates Perpignan to fourth place on the table. Gerhard Vosloo’s Castres came from behind to beat Bourgoin 14-12, keeping them in the hunt for a play-off place.

League table after Round 18

1. Clermont 71
2. Toulouse 66
3. Paris 57
4. Perpignan 53
5. Biarritz 52
6. Castres 46

8. Montpellier 38
9. Brive 36
10. Bourgoin 36
11. Bayonne 33
12. Albi 31
13. Dax 22

    aaah

What I would do for a Daan or a Faan in my team. And Jouba is not shabby either. Come to think of it neither is Percy, tough as nail he played with torn knee ligaments!

Loffie I know you read Keo so please prepare the cheque book for some major spending.

Cry baby. He should learn fron Percy.

    Gerhard Vosloo

Now there is a name that Loffie can make an offer to. Yet another lost Lion wondering the world searching for his pride.

Hmmm… How very interesting! The Bok outside centre position race looks pretty open to me!

remember when Joubert told JD Moller at airport “we going to fck you guys up”?? :D

big mouth..won’t wear the Bok jersey again.

Gerhard Vosloo has already stated in interveiw that he is trying for a french jersey.

Call him Joubi, call him Joubs but you can’t call him Jouba…that is reserved for the one and only Andre Joubert.

    Red Lion # 4

“Yet another lost Lion wondering the world searching for his pride.” Red Lion.

Very poetic. Very sharp-sharp my boetie.

But Marius likes real lolly. He’s gotten used to it. Rememeber when he had a Bok contract but had fallen off the bus as far as the Bok team was concerned. Eish, he was paid thousands and thousands every month for doing zip all because of that Jakey boy contract.

Loffie would have come up with serious dough to pull him away from Frogland.

This one from the Sunday Times, especially for you:

“If you don’t sit still, I’ll bring you back next Saturday.” — Overheard at Loftus last Saturday, where a father berated his toddler for constant fidgeting.

  • 10.Boerboel: Reply to this comment

And even better! Hell, The Sunday Times is a quality news paper.

Has there ever been a fall as spectacular as that endured by the Bulls, who now play as if punch drunk? In 2007, they were big, nasty and horrible to play against; a year later and they’ve morphed into a bunch of pooftahs who don’t know how to tackle and require a GPS to map their way to the try line.

What can be done about the kiwi refs playing a role in sa losing matches we all remeber the 2004 ireland incedent and i watching rugby since then the kiwi refs are very harsh on us this weekend was another exapmle

we should walk off the filed on them

  • 12.klippies101: Reply to this comment

The sa rugby board should take action agaisnt the kiwis

  • 13.Boerboel: Reply to this comment

    And the big revelation:

You don’t have to search hard for the answers. Champion coach Heyneke Meyer is too decent a man to talk about it, but he was forced out of Loftus last season. His crime? He was too enlightened and visionary and hated the meddling. It made the men in blazers nervous.

mayve steve hoffmeyer should play for the bulls

Given our lack of depth at 13 at the moment, Jouba might be seeing a Bok blazer again sooner than most believe…

    What does “irrepressible” mean?

  • 19.OCO: Reply to this comment

Yes, please don’t mention Marius in the same breath as Jouba.
Jouba had more rugby finesse in his little finger than Marius has in his whole body – and he was a gentleman too.
Marius is a thug and, in an international, won’t last 10 minutes before being sin binned – not to mention he’s way past his ‘sell by date’.
Can’t pick an international based on NH club rugby anyway.

I remember walking out of Aussie Stadium (Sydney) after the Crusaders had just hammered the Waratahs and some Sydney idiot was saying to me “arh, but we won the lawn bowls against you yesterday”

Much of what I have been reading on this site over the last three weeks is a bunch of lawn bowls comments. They seem to be coming from new folk and the new folk seem to now dominate this site

If you win or lose just be graceful people. Gloating is fine but you can’t abuse someone for supporting a team that losers. Lawn bowls comments make you look about 12 years old (I apoligise to those who actually are)

I support a team that is and has been very successful and I could come on here and push that down peoples throughts every day but I don’t.

    OCO,

Because quite simply, in 2004 Marius was regarded as the best center at 13 in international rugby, not to mention how he made Tana look like Meisiekind on his best day at the test at Ellis Park where he did score a hat-trick.

As far as I can tell, only JP rates JP.

Its quickly how some forget, I can remember the outcry when Percy was brought back, only to arguably be one of the most important players for the Boks from 2004 to 2007 smashing just about every record that stood.

It becomes quite easy when players are judged on rugby playing ability, rather than prejudice…

Fact; we have a huge problem at 13 with Mossie not playing due to injury, Murray way off form and only Bobo and JW Jonker putting up their hands it seems, but their performances is questionable at best especially when you try and imagine them at test level.

Fact; Mossie would walk into any Bok side because what his injury so far has taught us is that no-one is close to him when it comes to selecting a 13 or back-up 13 – if Joubert, who has all the experience in the world at test level is playing good rugby overseas, why would one not consider him?

Or do you believe we should play people out of position like some suggest?

    #26 Stavros The Angry Greek:

I thought it was wrong too. How can you send someone off when both players had their hands around the ball.

The Kenkalski (spelling) sending off was very funny because as part of the justification the referee informed the player that his captain had also told him to leave the ball alone. Perhaps captains should say nothing to warn their players in offending moments because it may land them in the bin!
    Crazy

After his ridiculous football style over the top “I’m injured and close to death” acting against Munster, Marius should go pursue a career in Nollywood. His play acting was a sad, sad moment for honest man’s sport of rugby

munkiboi – I agree with you. Plus he had to contend with slow boat De Wet on his inside, we never got to see what JDV/Joubert would have been like. Not only did Joubert score a hatrick against the ABs he also scored against Latham at the gabba, Strauli days, but he was certianly an awesome player to watch.

G13G (#6) I loved when Marius Jouba told JD Moller that- cause he was right – Cheetahs did f them up that weekend. Jouba also got a raw deal when he left Province, so good on him for coming to Cheetahs and making a difference.

Jouba for bok team, where is Ronny Cook playing?

  • 50.SodaJoe: Reply to this comment

Great news on a very talented player.

But there is only one Jouba – and that’s Andre Joubert.

    Even Marius would say that.
