Bulls get Fourie boost
6 May 2008
Fourie du Preez returns to the Bulls’ starting line-up to face the Brumbies.
Du Preez missed the match against the Highlanders a fortnight ago with a hand injury and started on the bench against the Waratahs last Saturday but has recovered to start, with Francois Hougaard on the bench.
There were fears that JP Nel and Bryan Habana wouldn’t be available due to injury, but both have been cleared to play. There was no such luck for Derick Hougaard though. The flyhalf developed an abscess on his buttock which turned septic in the last two days – forcing him to miss Saturday’s match. Morné Steyn starts at flyhalf with Vodacom Cup No 10 Burton Francis providing cover on the bench.
There is still no place for Springboks Danie Rossouw and Pedrie Wannenburg, with Wilhelm Steenkamp and Deon Stegmann preferred at lock and flank respectively.
Meanwhile it has emerged that Brumbies players Stirling Mortlock and Adam Ashley-Cooper have been in quarantine for the last 36 hours. The duo are suffering from a suspected gastric virus contracted in Cape Town.
Bulls - Zane Kirchner, Akona Ndungane, JP Nel, Wynand Olivier, Bryan Habana, Morné Steyn, Fourie du Preez (captain), Pierre Spies, Wikus van Heerden, Deon Stegmann, Wilhelm Steenkamp, Bakkies Botha, Werner Kruger, Derick Kuün, Gurthro Steenkamp.
Subs: Bandise Maku, Rayno Gerber, Jaco Engels, Danie Rossouw, Francois Hougaard, Burton Francis, Pedrie Wannenburg.

Please guys whenever a player has a medical condition more closely related to their sexlives than their rugby careers – please spare us the detail!

O gat”s”…arme Liefling………
6 May 2008, 15:03 pm
6 May 2008, 15:03 pm
Should have left Wikus as captain.
Fourie is not the same with the extra burden
6 May 2008, 15:06 pm
Oooooooooo flok……….
Hougie het ‘n masssesse moooooooooooooosssaaaa PUISIE / PITSWEER oppie blaker !!
Hehehehe

Do you think Hougard has piles and the media now disguise it? For God’s sake give the man some privacy (just a bit)?
6 May 2008, 15:11 pm
Miskien het Hougie se moerbeie uitspatterig gesak ??
6 May 2008, 15:12 pm

6 May 2008, 15:22 pm
Mametsa of Tiger Mangweni…

Does anyone remember that the Bulls have JP joubert as an option???
6 May 2008, 15:32 pm
6 May 2008, 15:34 pm
Wie stel jy voor?
6 May 2008, 15:37 pm
6 May 2008, 15:38 pm
6 May 2008, 15:44 pm
6 May 2008, 15:47 pm
6 May 2008, 15:53 pm

I would have prefered Wickus to stay captain. I am not convinced that Fourie is the best captain and I think the captaincy burden affects his game.
6 May 2008, 16:19 pm
#20 Paloeka: Agree Fourie not a captains *** had hopes for the Bulls against the Brumbies but is not so sure anymore!
6 May 2008, 16:39 pm
#4 coma: Is jy mal in jou kop?! JP Nel speel sy slegste seisoen ooit. Hy is minder wert as tweedanse toilet papier!
6 May 2008, 16:42 pm
Fourie needs to clean FASTER behind scrums, rucks, mauls……… he is taking away lots of options for the Bulls by taking too long to consider the options.
What initially made him soooo good & unpredictable was his crisp service and unpredictability…..
He has not displayed what made him great yet this season………
6 May 2008, 16:47 pm
they already did us (the stormers) a big favour by beating the waratahs!! all they must do now is look after fourie, bakkies, habana & spies for the tests in june!!

#15 grootblousmile:
Jy moenie so negatief wees nie.
6 May 2008, 17:18 pm
#24 ruggamad_dave: ruggamad,
Don’t forget the favour they did the stormers in the first game of the season!
6 May 2008, 18:08 pm
And I thought the Stormers did the Bulls a favour in the first game
6 May 2008, 19:46 pm
#26 dWeePer: The Stormers did’nt do the Bulls a favour in that 1 st game…….. neither did they do themselves any favours either………..
Willie Roos was the f(l)avour of the week then…………… hehehe
Bulls took a steady nose-dive after that game…………… barra bing ting ting….
But the Bulls are showing good character and resolve here during the last 3 weeks……….. despite their coach, not because of their coach !

Skoppie will wet his pants with delight at this unexpected windfall I’m sure
6 May 2008, 21:11 pm
I see Rassie hired Susie to do a job for the Stormers. I thought I saw her sneaking out the back door of a certain 4 star Newlands hotel this week. Expect the rest of the team to be paying more attention to the great white telephone from tomorrow. Crafty *******. Leaves no **** unstoned.
6 May 2008, 21:12 pm
ag neewat daars niemand by die kraal vanaand nie. Waar’s jy Groote?
6 May 2008, 21:29 pm
#30 TASSIES: Ek’s ‘n silver-sluiper op die anner thread….
6 May 2008, 22:10 pm
Wickus not the captain?
The Bulls will loose…………again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
6 May 2008, 22:45 pm
Bulls won’t loose because Wikus isn’t their captain. We will loose because JP isn’t the real first choice no.13
Have your say
