The Chennai Super Kings thumped the Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets to secure a place in the IPL final.
They meet the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. South African seamers Makhaya Ntini and Ablie Morkel took two wickets each to help restrict Punjab to 112, but the victory was achieved through a superb batting performance from Parthiv Patel and Suresh Raina, who scored 51* and 55* respectively.
The Punjab attack simply had no answer to the duo’s skill on a placid wicket, with Raina, in particular, brutal on anything remotely off line.
Chennai lost both their league matches to Rajasthan but this victory would have given them tremendous confidence going into the final.
