Sevens Boks stutter into quarters
31 May 2008
The Springbok Sevens side finished their pool matches unbeaten to set up a quarter-final against England in Edinburgh.
The day started with a 19-all draw with Argentina, who eliminated them in London. That result would have been particularly disappointing given that they lead 19-0 at one stage.
They then edged hosts Scotland 22-21 in an enthralling encounter before sealing their place in the Cup play-offs with a 17-12 victory over Australia.

had to laugh…who was that *** that nearly chucked the game for us by being turned over in the in-goal area instead of just dotting the try and scoring the 5 points? jeez….I know they all want to get closer to the poles because of the drop-kicking….but jeez, that was just nuts!
don’t watch a hell of a lot of sevens if any…but what is the ettiquette withregards to penalties.
Why did the smelly sock commentator nearly choke on his kilt when the bok player drop goaled for posts in injury time to win the game?
Is he trying to tell me that had the situation been reversed, the Scots would have run-it?
No wonder they never win a rugby game.

Bok sevens team seems to kick 5 times as much as any other sevens team …

Treu STILL hasn’t taught them to run around to score UNDER THE POSTS so that you get an extra two points. They score wide in the corners and the drop-kicker has zero chance of converting. Two points go a-begging every time.

Sevens Boks -What a disappointment – Maybe Mr. Juries should consider tackling a few opponents now and then instead of just attacking on the wing all the time. Mr. Mentz should try running around the opponents instead of straight into them!
We have a very good team but need some leadership and work ethic without the ball from our players. Good luck for next round.
