Jerome Kaino has been fined and will face a NZRU misconduct hearing after being caught driving while at twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.
The All Blacks No 8 was fined $800 (around R4700) and smacked with a six-month driving ban after pleading guilty to charges of drunk driving in the Auckland District Court on Monday for the accident which happened on 27 June.
Kaino tested twice over the legal alcohol limit. No one was injured in the minor incident, but Kaino took full responsibility for his actions and expected the NZRU to take disciplinary action.
“I’ve crossed the line,” is all that he would offer when asked about the accident.
The incident follows hot on the heels of the NZRU’s order to All Blacks scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan to stop drinking or risk his career after he was involved in a drunken brawl a fortnight ago.
