England have recalled Paul Collingwood and Ryan Sidebottom for the third Test against the Proteas at Edgbaston tomorrow.
Collingwood was dropped for the second Test defeat at Headingley, but earned his recall with a good showing for Durham, while Sidebottom has fully recovered from the back injury which kept him out of the second Test and comes into the attack in place of Darren Pattinson.
There is, however, no place for Collingwood’s Durham team-mate Steve Harmison, who had been named in England’s initial 13-man squad.
Collingwood is expected to bat at number six with wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose dropping down to number eight and Andrew Flintoff keeping his place at seven.
Despite his good showing with the bat in the second innings at Headingley, youngster Stuart Broad is the player who makes way after his recent poor performances with the ball.
